This blog post will be a little different today! I want to catch you up on last weekend events! This past weekend I had one of the greatest time of my life! I went to Atlanta, GA for the 2014 Pinky Promise event. Click here to learn more about Pinky Promise.
My friend and I headed to The Westin in Atlanta GA after dropping off our things at a family members house. (shout out to friends and family that open up there homes while we visited Atlanta). Over 1400 girls were to travel in this weekend to a conference that would change your life forever.
I was so nervous, immediately when you pulled up there are tons of girls everywhere,
at that moment it became very real that I was not behind a computer screen, but really interacting with pinky promise sisters from all over the world in one place.
We checked in and registered to get our pinky promise badges.
The conference was from Thursday to Sunday. On the back of each badge was a schedule of all the events that were to be held during the conference. We stayed busy!!! One of my missions while at the conference was to get the book Dusty Crowns and I was hoping Heather Lindsey would sign my book. So on day one I got to meet Heather and Cornelius they are so nice and really funny. I was so nervous at first to meet them because I had never met them in person, but I had to remind myself they are everyday people just like me and you allowing the holy spirit lead there lives.
I am on page 68 I really enjoy this book. It is not a substitute to the bible, but it helps me to stay accountable. I believe God has a purpose for my life and wants me to be the women he has called me to be. After this weekend I feel very different just free from bondage! I really could care less about what people think now. Romans 1:16 “for I am unashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew then to the Gentile. That night we had a night session with Kim Poither Jones. This is a beautiful women, I got to meet her she is very sweet.
The Second day I got to enjoy the single session and men’s panel along with the clothing swap and another night session with Cornelius Lindsey
We talked about what Christians should be doing while unmarried. We read from 1 Corinthians 7:8-9 and 1 Corinthians 7:32 we also talked about Adam and how he received his purpose from God Genesis 2:7-9 and 18 how God had to find a suitable mate for him. And we received a explanation to the coined phrase “My Adam is Sleeping” check out Genesis 2:21-25. This session really brought me some conviction. I really saw as a single women (not married) I do not spend enough time with Christ. I made a list in my mind of what was distracting me. It was great to talk with other girls and have a bonding time.
The third day I was up early enough to go to the zumba class! It was so fun, the class was only 30 minutes so I had to really go hard in the class to make sure it count!
I was so tired after that! I know I burned atleast 500 calories in that 30minutes of dance! After zumba I went to a fashionista shopping on a budget workshop and natural hair workshop
Mary Jane had some excellent tips and a beautiful presentation. I can not wait to get one of those turban scarfs if you follow me on instagram: ifk_keisha I have a hair demonstration video from the pinky promise conference click here to find the turban.
After resting for a little bit I got geared up for the night session with Heather Lindsey.
This message was life changing. The topic was the runaway bride and she came from Ezekiel 16: 1-22. This scripture meant a lot to me. The bridegroom (Jesus) is waiting for me and I came back home to him. I fell on my face to him and ask for forgiveness for neglecting him. That night I got married! Married to the bridegroom that is. Earlier in this blog I talked about giving your undivided attention to Christ and I had not been doing that. That night I made a commitment to do so. John 3:29 “the bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him and is full of joy when he hears the bridegrooms voice, that joy is mine, and it is now complete”. 30 “He must become greater , I must become less”.
This is how I feel now. I wake up in the morning and fall to prayer. I can not wait to here what the Lord has to say to me. I just want to continue to do what God has given me to do and point people to Christ like John the Baptist did. John 3:27.
I had a great weekend! My eating habits where not the best over the weekend, but I did not do so bad because I lost a total of 6lbs during my 21 day Challenge.
So I am working my way back to making sure I am including those fruits and vegetables in every meal! I must be drinking plenty of water also. I had a lot of fast food this weekend, so I need to make sure I am not sinking back into my old habits.
I do not know everything about Christ, God, and the bible but I am learning everyday and I have complete faith in him. Life is so short but we spend a eternity in heaven.
